President and Chair of the Board
Shannon Brewster

Shannon currently serves as the LA Chapter President and was a founding board member. He previously served as Treasurer from 2020-2023. Shannon is Director for AT&T’s Cybersecurity Consulting division where is a leader of global services teams of cybersecurity professionals working across all of the major domains of Information Security. Shannon is a CISSP, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and a Master of Business Administration from Champlain College in Burlington, VT. He is also an Adjunct for Wilmington University's College of Technology, teaching for both graduate and undergraduate cyber programs. He enjoys coaching, mentoring, and trekking outdoors.

Communications Chair
Edwin Covert

Ed is currently the Head of Cyber Risk Engineering for Bowhead Specialty Underwriters. He is also an Adjunct Professor in Cybersecurity at California State University - Los Angeles. Previously, he held several director positions with Warner Bros, WarnerMedia, and Warner Bros Discovery. Prior to his work in the entertainment industry, he was the Global Head of Security Architecture with Deutsche Bank and a federal contractor in cybersecurity for 20 years. He holds both the CISSP and the ISSAP certifications. He has a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Information Technology Management from Colorado State University. He is a veteran of the US Navy.

Treasurer
Steve Weltman

Steve Weltman is a consulting fractional and virtual Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with over 18 years of leadership in cybersecurity risk management on infrastructure and cloud IT and compliance program leadership in Fortune 50 organizations. He is well-received by business and tech audiences when facilitating organizational changes that improve security posture and leadership capacities
Steve operates Aletheia Security Consulting, specialists in security compliance program building and remediation. He advises executive boards and CISOs on security leadership capabilities, building cross-team security collaboration and security team development. He emphasizes the importance of ‘making work suck less’ by building a relatable leader vision aligned with strategic business objectives, where teams can own their piece of the compliance program with less friction to success. 
Steve has long been an active contributor to the cybersecurity community and a trusted advisor on emerging threats and technologies.

Obinna Eze 

With over a decade of dedicated experience in the field of cyber security, he is passionate about safeguarding digital assets and ensuring the resilience of organizational infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. His expertise spans various domains within cyber security, including vulnerability management, incident response, application security, and data privacy. Throughout his career, he has successfully led numerous projects aimed at enhancing the security posture of organizations, resulting in improved resilience against cyber threats and enhanced compliance with industry regulations.​ He is committed to giving back to the cyber security community through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and participation in industry events to stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the field.​

 

Obinna holds the CISSP and GIAC Enterprise Vulnerability Assessor Certifications. He has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and an MBA from Hult International Business School. He is currently a Senior Vulnerability Assessment Analyst at Pure Storage.
